Position Overview:  Assist the President in overseeing all the activities of the chapter.  In the absence of the President, perform all the Presidential responsibilities. Although not a requirement, it is recommended that the President-Elect is a SHRM member in good standing and certification is preferred. 

Term: The President-Elect has a one-year term and moves into the position of President the next year.  Currently 1/1/2017 to 12/31/2017.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attendance at every monthly Board meeting and Chapter meeting as well as strategic planning meetings is expected.
  • Provide a continuity of leadership in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.
  • Participate in the planning of the State SHRM Conference in the years the conference is hosted by BAHRA.
  • Assist the Board with determining topics for monthly meetings and contact speakers as needed or assigned to set up speaking arrangements.  All Board members share this task.
  • Assist Secretary or Membership Director with registration at monthly meetings when needed.
  • Represent the chapter in the Human Resources Community.
  • Assist the Board and complete other tasks as assigned by the President.
  • Attend the SHRM Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C in November
  • Make preparations for and set up a strategic planning session by end of December; conduct the meeting, set goals and budget and prepare information for the first BAHRA meeting in January.
  • Attend State Council Meetings if the President is unable to attend the scheduled meeting.
  • Attain HRCI Certification as well as SHRM Certification of all monthly meetings and meetings during the year that a BHARA hosts the State Conference.
