Position Overview:  This position is responsible for all chapter financial and administrative functions.  This includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, preparation of periodic financial reports for the Board and general membership, and assists in the development of the chapters annual operating budget.  As a member of the executive Board, the Treasurer is responsible for supporting the direction of the President and the initiatives of the chapter.  Although not a requirement, it is recommended that the President-Elect is a SHRM member in good standing and certification is preferred. 
Term:   The Treasurer has a two-year term that begins in an even number year.  Currently 1/1/2016-12/31/2017.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attendance at every monthly Board meeting and Chapter meeting as well as strategic planning meetings is expected.
  • Provide a continuity of leadership in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.
  • Participate in the planning of the State SHRM Conference in the years the conference is hosted by BAHRA.
  • Assist the Board with determining topics for monthly meetings and contact speakers as needed or assigned to set up speaking arrangements.  All Board members share this task.
  • Assist Secretary or Membership Director with registration at monthly meetings when needed.
  • Represent the chapter in the Human Resources Community.
  • Assist the Board and complete other tasks as assigned by the President.
  • Serve as the Chapters Chief Financial Officer and is directly responsible for the reasonable and prudent management of all financial transactions, preparing and presenting financial reports and for the safeguarding of the Chapters financial assets.
  • The treasurer shall disburse funds only for normal and usual uses unless the Chapters Board of Directors shall otherwise direct.
  • Collect mail from the post office box on a regular basis.
  • Arrange for preparation and submission of the Form 990, Federal Income Tax Return for exempt organizations.
  • Maintain chapter budget and files relative to position.
